ATLAS and Community Partners Bring Junie B. Jones the Musical to Greene County Elementary Students
On March 17, ATLAS Ministry partnered with The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) and The Arts Barn to bring Junie B. Jones the Musical to ATLAS, providing Greene County Elementary School students with a memorable live arts experience.
The auditorium in the new ATLAS Learning Center was made possible through a valued community partnership with BankSouth. The BankSouth Assembly Center comfortably accommodates up to 300 guests and was thoughtfully designed to evoke the experience of sitting in an outdoor amphitheater.
More than 200 students attended two performances in the new ATLAS auditorium, allowing kindergarten and first-grade students from Greene County Elementary School the opportunity to enjoy the production. The event was designed to expand students’ access to the arts while creating an engaging and educational experience outside of the traditional classroom setting.
In addition to the performances, students participated in a meet-and-greet with the cast, where they were able to ask questions and interact with the performers. Each student also received a journal upon leaving the performance, encouraging reflection and writing inspired by their own school-year experiences.
This presentation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of OPAS, The Arts Barn, ATLAS Ministry, and Greene County Schools. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to enriching educational opportunities for students and increasing access to meaningful cultural experiences across the community.
“We are proud to host events like this at ATLAS. This is exactly the kind of collaboration we envisioned when we first dreamed up this space. Seeing it come to life, and witnessing the impact it’s having on the students and community in Greene County is truly inspiring,” said Lisa Brondyke, ATLAS Development Director.
By hosting events such as this, ATLAS continues to support students' academic, creative, and personal development in Greene County through intentional partnerships and community-centered programming.
